Mosgiel Woollen Company.
DEDUCED DIVIDEND. [i;Y TKLEOni.nl. TRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Dunedin, last night. The annual meeting of the Mosgicl Woollen Company was held to-day, Mr E. B. Cargill presiding. The dividend payable this year is 6 per cent. This is only the second year that the dividend has beon below S per cent. Tho Chairman, after paying a tribute to tho late Mr A. J. Melons, founder of the industry at Mosgiel, said that tho chief causo of diminished profit had been tho dislocation of the wool market, which rendered it necessary to further write down values, particularly of half-bred varieties of wool. The volume of business had boon well maintained during tho year, and compared favorably with preceding years. A fair profit was also shown upon all classes of manufacture. He might say that the result in some respects was more satisfactory than it had been for some time. In every branch they had shown a very fair margin of profit. Messrs R. Sinclair and W. Heslop were re-elected directors.
