COLD-BLOODED MURDERS BY BOERS. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright London, Nov. 14. Mr Brodrick, Minister for War, speaking at the City Carlton Club, said the Boers frequently murdered Kaffirs iu order to conceal their tracks from tho pursuing columns. Lord Kitchener had just cabled that cold-blooded murders by Boers have been frequent of late, and he gave several shocking instances. If such conduct become general, tho perpetrators must bo treated by the British as desperadoes. The blockhouses built extended over 1-1,700 square miles of country in the Transvaal, and 17.000 in the Orange Colony. Forty-two thousand adult male Boers have been captured, 11,000 have been killed, wounded, or have left the country, and it is believed thero aro 10,000 still in the Hold. The Government are sending two rcgiments of cavalry and 2000 other mounted troops, two of the regular lineof battalions, and some militia regiments to South Africa, aud India would supply battalions and two cavalry vcgiuionts. A colony, not South African, had offered fresh contingents. Mr Brodrick announced that MajorGeneral Sir Archibald Hunter will command the fourth Array Corps, and that Sir Evelyn Wood and the Duke of Connaught commanding the Second and Third Army Corps respectively, would both command in the field in the event of their corps being ordered on active service. The Boers shot and killed a sergeant of the Cape Police, who, being on sick loave, wa& sitting on the stoep of an hotel in Odondaatsfroom district. Lord Kitchener reports that the Boers captured and killed Private Christianson, of the Cape Pioneer Railway Regiment. When taken to Capetown, Miss Hobhouse was not permitted to alight from the railway carriage, but conducted direct aboard a steamer returning to England. A rebel at Matching has been sentonccd to death for shooting a nativo iu cold blood. Anglicans in the Rhine \ alley haveissued au anti-Chamberlain manifesto. ; They state that tho British placed Boer women and old men in the front ranks to shield themselves from tho bullets. The 1 Cologne Gazette expresses indignation at the statements, aud hopes that some ot j the pastors will have the honesty to 1 ! repudiate them. i Melbourne, Nov. 15. ‘ Mr Deakin stated that no State in the - Commonwealth had offered to send further contingents to South Africa. New Zea- ' land must havo done so. Wellington, last night. The Premier has received advice from i Mr Pilcher at Capetown, stating that Captain Russell's son is well, and that 1 Lieutenant Whitelcy is with his regiment. s Trooper Scherer, of the Railway Pioneers, s sailed in the Antillon for England on October 4th, and 4423 Mitchell is progress- } ing well, though not yet out of danger.

A patrol of district mounted troops was worsted at Jansenvillo by an insignificant force of Boers, a similar easo to that which occurred at Somerset East, suggesting treachery. The regular officer commanding shot most of tho horses to prevent tho Boors capturing them. A commando numbering sixty raided South Darling to obtain fresh horses and punish lukewarm Dutch supporters. Tho Capetown Guards have been sent to repel thorn.
RATTING FROM THE BOND. WILY DESERTERS THINK THE GAME IS UP. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Nov. 15. Prominent members of the Afrikander Bond are severving their connection with it. They declare that tho leaders of tho Bond have misled tho country and betrayed followers. Thero aro indications of a strong revulsion of feeling.
