Fruitgrowers’ Conference.

The Fruitgrowers’ Conference has resolved : “ That this Conference expresses [ regret that Government has failed to carry out the promise of the Premier to amend the Workers Compensation for Accidents Act so as to deline the position of workers on the land.” It was also decided to endorse the action of the North Auckland Yincgrowors’ Association, urging the Government to enact a stringent Act for the prevention of adulteration of wine, and also to legalise facilities for the retail sale of New Zealand made wines. The Conference also endorsed the action of the Whangurei Association in urging the Government to place a duty on oranges during September, October, and November, on lemons all the year round, and on lemon peel in brine.
