There has been a phenomenal rainfall in Scotland, Ireland, and northern England, inundating whole districts, especially in Yorkshire and Ulster, where the railway traffic is dislocated, the water overflowing to some of the trams and extinguishing tho engine tires. Tnero have been enormous wrecks. Ten lives are known to have been lost.
