By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Nov. 12. The Herald, dealing with the New Zealand Government proposal 4o establish a direct line of steamers with South Africa, states that it is informed by a. prominent New Zealander, identified with oversea shipping, that the response on the part of shippers to the recent announcement that a large steamer was intending to load direct for South Africa, proved very meagre and disappointing, and that the outlook for such a service upon profitable lines is gloomy.
