THROAT,

[by TELEGIUnt PItESS ARSOCI VTIOX-l

Auckland, last night

A sensational incident occurred at the Police Court this morning. The case before the Court was a cross-action, W . (j. Garrard v. Jolm Driscoll, each party asking that the other be bound over to keep the peace. Dr Laishlov, solicitor for Driscoll, objected to Garrard's method of examining Garrard s wife, when, after a few words not heard by the reporters, Garrard sprang at Laishley and seized him bv the throat, shouting, " Don't you call me a scoundrel." Garrard then pushed Dr Laishley to the lloor. Tito latter got up smiling, and remarked, " This will show you what kind of a man he is." The presiding Justices allowed the case to proceed as if nothing had j happened, but eventually bound over both • Driscoll and Garrard to keep the peace.
