Norton’s Notoriety.
PLAYING WITH THE ASSEMBLY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Oct. 29. In the Assembly John Norton appeared at the bar of a crowded House to explain the article published in Truth,..reflecting on members. In the course of a statement during which lie wns several times called upon to withdraw and apologise for additional charges made against the Minister of. Lands, he said that lie neither wrote the article nor saw it till several days after it was published, but be accepted the full responsibility. lie withdrew and apologised for the statements contained in the article.
The Premier moved tuut the apology he Accepted. %
A long and warm debate ensued, some utterances in defence of the dignity of the House and resenting Norton’s criticism, being anything hut dignified. Tho Premier’s motion was adopted.
