RELIGION IN SCHOOLS. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Dunedin, last night. The Anglican Diocesan Synod to-day passed the resolution of the Bishop of Wellington in favor of opening public schools with tho Lord’s l’rayer and the reading on certain days ot selected portions of-Scripture. At a meeting of the Drainage Board Dr Wm. Brown was elected chairman, and Mr S. H. Mirains, late city engineer, was appointed interim secrotarv and engineer at a salary of J 2350 per annum. THE DREDGING COLLAPSE.

Two gold dredges were sold by auction to-day. The Golden Falls dredge, current wheeler, which cost between JEBOOO and £9OOO, was sold for £tOUJ to Dr Hyde. The Shotover dredge, which cost about £2250, was, with the claim, sold for £250 to Mr Robert Lee.
