The National Dairy Association will send Home 90,000 boxes of batter and 1300 cases of cheese by the Gothic on Thursday, and will thenceforward make regular fortnightly shipments during the season. In August 1530 persons arrived in the colony snd 1101 left, as against 1080 arrivals and 999 departures in August, 1900. The claim of George Bodle.v, lodginghouse keeper, against King Mahuta for .£lB2 9s tid, a disp utel balance of accountfor accommodating 75 Maoris during Mahuta’s visit to Wellington last year, was decided by the Stipendiary Magistrate to-day, plaintiff being non-suiteil without costs. RAKERS’ COMBINATION. During the last few days the New Zealand l. mted Master Bakers’ Association has been formed in Wellington by delegates from Auckland, Canterbury, and Dunedin. The executive committee will have its headquarters in this city. It is stated that the Association has been formed for the purpose, among other tilings, of endeavoring to put a stop to cutting and underselling in the trade. Mr Kellow, president, gives a positive denial to the statement that the master bakers, with or without the assistance of the Hour millers, are combining to raise the price of bread. BURGLARY. The business premises of Mr Burridge, oi Petonc, were entered by burglars on Monday, and JC2-S extracted from the safe. SAVED TO DIE. .fames McDonald, keeper of one of the harbor coal hulks, who was knocked overboard by a Hying rope a few days ago, and whose immediate death was only averted by the prompt action of a constable, died at tho hospital to-day.
