(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, Saturday. The body of Maurice Regan, an oldage pensioner, was found floating in the harbor. Ho had boon missing since the 18th, Masterton, Saturday. Ho received the money for three tickets on tho second horse, which paid £3 19s, whereas the tickets wore on the first horse, paying XI 14s. It was alleged that ho denied receiving tho money at all. The defenco was reserved. Bail was allowed on his own recognisance of £IOO. Wellington, Saturday. The s.s. Mr Brebner, stationmastor at the Bluff, and Mr Nolan, signalman at Dunedin, have been re-elected members of the South Island Railway Appeal Board. Judge Ward is to be asked to take tho Chairmanship of tho Board for another term. Tho steamer Knight of St. George, now at Melbourne, has on board 24 powerful American-built locomotives for the prinoipal sections of the New Zealand railways, Christchurch, Saturday. Mumford, Kerry, and Freke appeared beforo the Magistrate in connection with the Ariadne ease this morning. Bail was fixed in regard to Kerry and Freke, accused in £SOO each and two sureties of £250 on each of the two charges. Mumford was given the same bail as beforo, himself in £4OO and two sureties of £2OO. At the Court this morning Reginald Wallace, alias Brady, a AVellington lad, was sentenced to three months on each of two charges of stealing £lO at Dunedin and £4 12s at Christchurch. The periods run concurrently. Wallace was with the Musgrove Company as eallboy. Dunedin, Saturday. Sir Hector Macdonald was this morning taken to tho woolleu factories and in the afternoon to AVaitati. It was intended to have taken him for a drive over the Taieri Plain to-morrow, but in deference to religious sentiment that has been abandoned.
