TEACHERS’ SALARIES

Dunedin, last night. j The committee of the Otago branch of j the New Zealand Institute has resol\ed to draw tho attention of the Minister of Education to the altogether inadequate salaries proposed for the second male assistants in the public schools in the Teachers' Salaries Bill now before Parliament. The feeling was general that ttie work done by teachers of this class is important enough to justify a salary which would attract men of experience. With this amendment the committee considered tho Commission is to be congratulated on the general success it has aehfevod.
