PEOPLE'S DAY
THE LARGEST ATTENDANCE ON RECORD.

The Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society were favored with perfect weather for the second day of their Show, and the attendance was the largest ever seen on the ground. It is estimated that close on 10.000 people were present. The show of hacks and draught horses was very tine, and the general quality of the exhibits in all the classes was excellent. The following were the championship awards : —Draught “mare, Douglas McLean's Shephcr less ; thoroughbred entire, Hon. J. D. O-.nond's Sir Lancelot: thoroughbred mare. W. J. Douglas's Brown, by Torpedo—Maori Belle : Hereford bull. James Stuckey; Hereford cow. James Stuckey ; polled Angus bull. Nelson Bros.: polled Angus cow, Nelson Bros.; Romney Marsh rain. J. Sykes; llomney Marsh ewe. W. Hutchinson.
