The Libel Law.

Replying to n deputation, the Premier gave a curious reason for the hitherto persistent refusal of Parliament to amend the libel law. When recognising the nec-d for amendment, he said it would be difficult to get a Bill through, because the newspapers did not deal too tenderly with members. Want of tenderness lay in reporting those scenes which unfortunately occurred in Parliament, which members afterwards regretted.
