MOHAWK MINSTRELS.

There was a fairly large attendance at the Theatre Royal last evening, when the Mohawk Minstrels gave their second performance before a local audience. A capital programme was submitted, and

the members of the company were well up to their work, the entertainment being a [ decided improvement on their initial effort, i’he tirst portion of the programme was devoted to minstrelsy, and was well received, almost every item being encored. After a pianoforte solo byMrs Fernandez, played in u most tasteful manner, the company gave the opening chorus, “ Medley,” which was followed by the comic coon song “ Keep a - Knocking,” by Mr -Tim Arnold. The same was well rendered, and an encore was demanded. The sentimental ballad, “ Sunny Tennessee,” was given by Mr C. Lowndes, with much success, as also were the items contributed by Messrs Syd. Bennett and Arthur Webb, all three performers being recalled. Mr C. W. Foreman was in excellent voice, and gave a fine rendering of “ Jessie’s l)reatn,” gaining an imperative encore. The comic song, There’s Air,” by Mr Tom Holdswortii, took exceedingly well, and had to be repeated. The first part of the programme concluded with a sketch entitled, “ The Wanderer's Return,” by Messrs Arthur Webb and Jim Arnold, and was a most appropriate windup. The second part was of the variety element, the following items being given : —“ Klondyko Dale,” Mr C. W. Foreman ; “ Hero of Mafeking,” Mr Tom Holdsworth ; horn solo, Mr Bert May ; comic song, Mr Jim Arnold ; “ McCarty’s Four-in-Hand,” Mr Syd. Bennett. Mr Foreman also gave the “Boys of the Old Brigade” in good stylo, the audience demanding an encore. Mr Bert May’s horn solo was an exceedingly- clever performance, and he was twice recalled

The entertainment concluded with a humorous face entitled “Irish Justice,” with the following cast of characters : Judge, Mr 0. W. Foreman ; Prosecuting Counsel, Mr Svd Bennett; Defending Counsel, Mr Arthur Webb ; R.C. Higgins, Mr Tom Iloldsworth; Clerk of the Court, Mr Bert May. Messrs Lowndes, Arnold, Lamont, anil Lowndes also assisted. The entertainment went off without the slightest hitch, the audience testifying thenappreciation by hearty applause. After the performance the members of the company and a few friends spent a pleasant hour at tho City Buffet, where they were provided with an excellent supper by Messrs Allen Bros. The company appears at Ormond at an early date.
