OVERCROWDING CEMETERIES.

SCANDALOUS STATE OF AFFAIRS REVEALED. (Special to Times.) Wellington, last night. At the instance of the I’uolic Health Department, the Lower Hutt Borough Council has resolved to take steps to close all cemeteries in tho Borough. They are all low-lying, and much crowded, and in two eases nave been condemned as insanitary. A statement was made recently that the newly-dug graves in one cemetery were affected by the soakage front the adjacent creek, and sometimes held so much water that the coffins floated and had to behold down while the burial service was read. To add to the horror of the thing well water drawn from the vicinity was being used for household purposes.
