This serious charge of disloyalty was circulated throughout Germany, and caused considerable sutpicions as to the policy of tho London .Missionary Society iu Samoa. A “ defence ” was published by the Mission, M the request of the Governor. The result has been that, after the fullest investigation by the authorities at Samoa, and in Berlin, the members of the Mission have been completely cleared of any evil intention, and the charges declared absolutely without foundation.
