Sir, —Dredges arc useful, but unornameiital objects, in their places: but to Christen.” as your correspondent comically suggests, a thing employed to collect dead goats, and rotting fish, dirt and mud, and other, savoury elegancies, by name of a worthy citizen of our town, shows how feebly your friend sees a fitness in things so dissimilar. Mr Townley is entitled to more discrimination from the pens of those who seek to thrust such a bloomin’ honour upon him.—l am, etc., Tom I’kuryiunui.e.
i Our correspondent himself suggests n jVunnc for what he terms ‘‘the mud- * hugger." That name happens to bo that of a member of the Board, with the Christian name given a familiar abbreviation.— Ep. Times. 1
