CRICKET.
THE DISTRICT 3CIIEMI
NOTES BY "BIFFER."
■\Vk learn it is the intention of local eiickctors to convene a meeting of players on Friday evening next to discuss the proposal to inaugurate a district scheme in connection with cricket. We would suggest that a representative of each proposed district obtain the names of all players who intend joining the various clubs this season, in order that there may be something to lay before Friday's meeting. We hope to sec all players—past and present—and those who take an interest in the game, if only in an indirect way, at this meeting, and feel sure that the result of the deliberations will be the advancement of the game generally in the district, and the improvement of the ground in particular. Cricketers have a good opportunity of doing something in the way of improving tho ground at the present time. The Sports Committee are only too anxious to help in this direction, and all that is required to secure a good wicket aud a decent out-field is that cricketers should do a little towards keeping it themselves.
