DROWNING ACCIDENT.

Dunedin, last night.

William Troy, one of the greasers on the Karamea, was drowned at Port Chalmers last night, lie was going on board with his brother, and took the outside of the railway trucks on the wharf, while his brother walked on the inner side. There was a splash heard, and an alarm was given, but an hour elapsed before the body was recovered. At the inquest a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned, the jury adding that the attention of the Railway Department, which controls the wharf, be called to the urgent necessity for protection of the wharves after nightfall.
