WATERY GRAVES.

COFFINS HELD DOWN AYJIILE BURIAL SERVICE Is BEAD. (Special to Times.) AVellington, last night. Something of a scandal is reported in connection with one of the suburban cemeteries, which will probably result in its being closed. It is said to be not only very crowded, but owing to its low-lying position, coffins have frequently had to be lowered into graves and held down while the burial service was read. The presence of water is duo to soakage from adjacent creeks. Of course it may bo only a matter of sentiment as to how the dead are buried, but a such condition of things as related can only bo harrowing to the feelings of relatives. The Chief Health Officer has recommended the closing of the cemetery.
