Commandant of the Forces.
STATEMENT THAT COL. PORTER WILL BE APPOINTED.
(Special to Times.) Auckland, last night. One of tho Gisborne members of tho Seventh Contingent doing battle in South Africa, writing to a friend in Auckland, states that Colonel Porter, in charge of tho Seventh Contingent, will be returning to New Zealand in two months to take charge of tho New Zealand forces.
