(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night. At the Supreme Court Mr Justice Conolly allowed a farthing damages without costs in the case in which Howard James Thomas sued Thos. Pcrham and his wife Grace Pcrham for libel. Tho claim set forth that Grace Pcrham wrote to John Vail, in the Government survey office, describing plaintiff as a dangerous mail who repeated scandal, an untrustworthy official, and a fearful liar when it suited him. The letter was anonymous. An expert said it was Mrs Perham’s handwriting. Mr Pcrham appeared, and said he did not believe Ins wife wrote tho letter.

His Honor said that plaintiff had not denied the allegations that lie had not suffered damage.
