Sydney, Aug. 28. It transpires that when Mr John Higr'insou, closely identified with the French possessions iii the Pacific, went to France some months ago. be was the bearer of an important letter from an influential body of mftchants interested in the Pacific trade, asking him to represent to the French Government the desirableness of modifying or removing the present trade restrictions between the Commonwealth and French possessions.
