Wellington, last night. IL.M.S. Archer arrived from Lyttelton this morning. In the Divorce Court, Janet S. Clark was granted a decree nisi for dissolution of marriage with Sydney Charles (dark, on the grounds of desertion and adultery. In July of last year the Kailway Department ordered one thousand waggons from Great Britain, and in order to expedite the supply and get them for the harvest season spread the order among a number of firms. L’p to the present time only iilO waggons have been sent out and of those only 207 are iitted up and running. It is expected that the whole will bo received l>v the end of the year.
At the Builders' Conference a resolution was passed approving of the conditions of the contract in use at the four centres, and advising other associations to adopt them, also recommending them to have a condition inserted in contracts stipulating for compensation to he Pai d the lowest tenderer in a case where the work is not gone on with. Tho question of tho contractors’ liens on work contracted for was referred to a committee for a report.
