HOPEFUL STATE OF AFFAIRS.

In tho Assembly the State Treasurer delivered the Budget. The revenue for the year was £8,087,000, of which £fi6o,Uoo was returned to the Commonwealth. Tho actual receipts were •£(105,000 more than estimated, but tho increase was largely discounted by unusual expenditure in connection with the Royal visit and Federal celebrations. The total expenditure was £7,709,000, being £228,000 more than estimated. It is expected to close the year with a credit balance of £166,000.
