Tlie Times says Transvaal holders of Netherlands railway stock have sold five thousand one hundred shares on the Continent since the beginning of the war. The present holders cannot expect to bo bought out. Tho Standard says Dutch shareholders are delighted at the reported terms of Great Britain's offer, but Kruger and his counsellors are disappointed at the settlement removing the pretext for an international dispute.
Lord Kitchener has mentioned the conspicuous services of Trooper Dcvehyr, of the Fourth Imperial Bushmen : SergeantMajor Briguian, Sergeant L’liilliphant, of the Fifth ; and Trooper Ruddle, of the Sixth Imperial Bushmen. KRUGER'S THREAT. AN APPEAL FROM SWITZERLAND By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Loudon, Aug. 28. Kruger is sending protests to tho Hague Peace Convention signatories. The Netherlands Government declined to transmit the protests. Kruger hints that if tlie Powers are indifferent to the appeal, Botha will he given a free hand in tho way of reprisals. The Bishop of Liverpool, replying to a pro-Boer appeal from the Swiss Evangelic Alliance, strongly upholds Great Britain’s cause, and says that the charges made in the appeal against the British arc based on defective information, spiritually harmful to the evangelisation of tho world.
