Co-operative Dairying.

- (To the Editor of the Times.) Siii, —I was sorry to see the stand taken up by “ Ego." It is not wanted by dairymen. W'e have no quarrel against Mr McGregor, and even if a co-operative factory is started we should have nothing but good to say of that gentleman. I for one feel indebted to him for the figures he has given in the Times. Never before have the fanners of the district had the matter placed so plainly before them as is now being done by gentlemen like Messrs Lysnar, Walsh and McGregor, and latterly Mr Maunsell. What we want is the wholo of the facts, and then to form a cool judgment of our own. So surely as we go in for co-operation without aforethought it must inevitably fail. lam a staunch believer in it, but I know that if we go into it without careful practical planning we will soon be left without even the secondhand log-rope so wittily referred to by Mr Maunsell. Mr Maunsell has evidently given the question study both from the theoretical and practical point of view. Leaving out Mr Lvsnar’s rosy figures, will Mr Maunsell kindly give liis view as to whether or not a co-operative factory would succeed '? If not, why not ? What wo want to know are the weak points as well as the strong ones. “ Egos,” with their semi-personal attacks, are not wanted in this discussion.—l am, etc., Dairyman.
