PRESBYTERIAN PROTEST.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Napier, last night. On the 16th ult. the Hawke’s Bay Presbytery, on behalf of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, communicated with the Premier, strongly protesting against Sunday work in the various branches of the

Public Service, and more particularly upon the railways, where it had been most prominent in connection with the Royal reception. The protest has apparently borne fruit, and the Presbytery have again written to the Premier, expressing their satisfaction on learning that a circularhad been sent to the traffic managers of the railways, directing that Sunday trains be discontinued, except in cases of neCes-' sity.
