PERSONAL.
j A presentation of a very pleasing nature i took place at Messrs Common, Shelton, and Co.'s warehouse yesterday afternoon. It was made to Mr N. Hooper by his fc-llow employees, on the occasion of his marriage, and was accompanied with an address, expressing the appreciation in which he was held. The presentation took the form of a number of household requisites, including a beautiful dinner service, several dozen assorted cutlery, fender and fire brasses, and other useful articles. The employees met together a few minutes after one o’clock, and on their behalf Mr F. .J, Shelton made the presentation. That gentleman referred to Mr Hooper’s many excellent qualities, and expressed pleasure in seeing such good fellowship among the employees of the firm. He also read the following address from the employees of the firm : Dear Sir, —“We, your folio .v employees, on the eve of your approaching marriage, desire vou to accept the accompanying present as a slight token of the respect and esteem in which you are held by us. We are pleased that the step you arc taking does not necessitate your removal from amongst us, but rather tends to piant you more firmly here. We shall be pleased to welcome Mrs Hooper to Gisborne, and hope the pleasant relations that have existed in the past will continue in the future. Humphreys."’ Mr Hooper suitably responded on behalf of himself and Mrs Hooper, and after those present had offered their congratulations to Mr Hooper the gathering dispersed.
