The Fatal Fight.
(To the Editor of the Times ) Sir,—My attention has been called to your own foot-note to my letter, and to your two anonymous correspondents—to sign one’s name is, I think, preferable. I had no idea of wishing to suppress information as to tho cause of death of the unfortunate young man. My objection was to the details of the enthusiasm reported with so much evident gusto. In my judgment the aiders and abettors arc morally guilty of tho death, and the fight was a scandal to our boasted high civilisation, and degrading to all concerned in it. Practical Christianity as detailed throughout the New Testament teaches that the mainspring of action should be love, which docth no ill to his neighbour, and is the fulfilling of man’s highest destiny.—l am, etc., .T. Peckover.
jWc quito agree with Mr Peckover as to the fight being a scandal to our boasted civilisation, and the worst feature, as shown up by the report, was the enthusiasm exhibited. —Ed. Times. !
