SUPREME COURT. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. At the Supreme Court John Calder and William Kennedy were charged with assault and rubbery. Tho Kilter was acquitted, ('alder was found guilty ot assaun only, and was admitted to probation fur six months. Negotiations have been resumed between Government and the Wellington Manawatu Railway Company for the purchase ot the lallcv line. Mr Gow, the New Zealand Government Tra-iC Commissioner, leaves the colony by the Wcstralia to-morrow for Sydney, and wil. leave there by the first boat for South Africa, making his way thence to London and the Continent.
