ON TIIE FACTORIES BILL. NOON OR ONE O’CLOCK.
By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Loudon, Aug. 13. Government- sustained a minor defeat at the first stage of the Factory Bill. By 103 to 111 tiie committee's alteration, closing mills at noon, instead of at ono on Saturday, was upheld. Mr Ritchie described this as a football stoppage that would mean a loss to tho master spinueu of £120,000 per annum. Messrs Taylor and Iloldaworth replied that the operations made noon a question at the election.
