bv Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Aug. 7. Genoral Scobell has inflicted heavy losses on Commandant Lategan. Lord Kitchener’s weekly report shows 48 Boers wore killed. 19 wounded, taken prisoners, and 07 surrendered. One pom-pom, 140 rifles, 8660 rounds of small-arms ammunition, IS6 waggons, and many horses and cattle were captured.

Mr W. T. Stead vainly urged Mr E. Brcmner, President of Switzerland, to intervene against Great Britain’s alleged violation of tho Hague Peace Convention concerning the usages of war. Mr Stead then asked for a general statoment in reference to Swiss sympathies towards tho Boers, but Brcmner declined to bo drawn.

Londou, Aug. 8. Colonel Cunningham, and Colonel Sir Henry Rawlinson attacked and expelled 250 Boers from a farm at Parys, capturing 25 Boers, 25 loaded waggons, 1200 cattle, and many horsos. General Bruce Hamilton's force, reconnoitring Commandant Potpiotcr at Wolmarinstad, killed ten, captured a convoy, and dispersed tho commando.
