By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Sydney, Aug. 6. Last night, tw r o armed men, wearing masks on their faces, entered the branch of the Bank of New South Wales at Ilcnly. Meeting tho accountant in the passage, they forced their way into the room where Mr Lamport, the manager, was sitting. Tho robbers ordered tho manager to put up his hands, but, instead of obeying the command, ho quickly drew a revolver, and fired two shots at the intruders. One of the robbers returned the fire, and was successful in shooting Mr Lamport through tho chest, the bullet boing embedded in that gentleman’s back. Tho men then decamped, without stopping longer to try and secure any booty. They got clear away beyond tho reach of immediate pursuit. It is believed that one of the men was wounded by a bullet from Mr Lamport’s revolver.

TWO BROTHERS ARRESTED ON SUSPICION.

(Received Aug. 7, 1.10 a.m.) Sydney, August 0. The bullet that was embedded in Mr Lamport’s back has been extracted, and he is now progressing favorably towards recovery from the injury inflicted by the would-be murderer. Two brothers named Mention have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the sticking-up case. The men arrested were taken from their bed, a mile from Henty. One man has a wounded arm, which is thought to be a strong clue.
