GONE TO HER LONG REST.

The private chaplain of the Empress spent an hour in the sick room in the morning. All the children excepting Prince Henry were present at tho death, which came peacefully at a quarter past six. The cause of death was that the effects following on cancer reached tho heart. The Empress was conscious to tho end, the Rev. T. Teigyouth Shore, Canon of Worcester, and who acted as chaplain ordinary to the late Queen Victoria, praying. Much sympathy is expressed in Germany for King Edward, owing to the suddenness of the event preventing his attendance.
KINDLY FEELING EVINCED.

German and English newspapers reflect the new feeling of kindliness of the two nations to each other in the common affliction of the Imperial Royal families. King Edward and Queen Alexandria start for Kronstadt, probably to-morrow, to attend the obsequies at Potsdam. Parliament to-morrow condoles with the lung and Kaiser.

HOUSES OE PARLIAMENT ADJOURNED.

Tho Federal Senate and House, and tho Queensland and South Australian Assemblies have adjourned out of respect to the memory of Empress Frederick. Mr Barton and other leaders eulogised her private character, and tho beneficial influence in strengthening the relations between England and Germany. Flags in tho capitals wore lowered to half-mast.
