WEIGHING AND TESTING.
(To the Editor of the Times.'! Sik.—l?y Saturday's Times I see that Messrs Clayton Bros, have taken up the matter of weighbridges. It is time some ono did so, for by Messrs Clayton Bros, statement the Harbor Board's weighbridge is not reliable, and why not others ? Will Messrs Clayton Bros, please inform us when their weighbridge was last tested, or the Harbor Board's, and who is the inspector of weights and measures for Gisborne'? It is a matter of great public interest that these weighbridges and storekeepers' weight and measures should be kept adjusted, and that everything should be sold cither by weight or measure, not as it mostly is now. One orders a bag of coat, which the public look to get 2ewt. in, but how often is if weighed'? lam afraid not very often, though every bag sent out should be weighed. And, Mr Editor, can you tell us whether the milk we use m town is ever tested (as I see it is in other towns), and who is responsible that we get pure milk ?—I am, etc., e j USTICK.
