EVENING SITTING. The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. The Speaker read a communication from the Clerk of Writs, notifying the election of Mr F. H. Haselden for Patea. The Land for Settlements Act Amendment Bill was re-committed, and amendments made on the Premier’s motion to modify- clause 9, which gives the Government power to make regulations in regard to claims for compensation. The motion for the third reading of the Bill gave rise to a long debate.
