SPECIAL GRANT TO LORD ROBERTS. TIMES SAYS IT WILL BE £IOO,OOO. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, July 23. * Mr Balfour announced in the House of Commons that the Government would proceed with the Royal Titles and Pacific Cable Bills. There will be two estimates, ono for a grant to Lord Roberts in recognition of bis services in South Africa, and tho other for civil administration and other purposes in the Transvaal. The Times believes that tho grant to Lord Roberts will bo £IOO,OOO. (Received July 23, 11.4 p.m.) In the House of Commons a Government majority of 77 was secured for tho remaining time of the session to be devoted to Government business.
An announcement by Mr Balfour that there will bo no supplementary estimates is interpreted to moan that further provision is unnecessary.
