A HARD KNOCK FOR AUCKLAND. HIGH-HANDED ACTION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, July 22. Referring to a statement published in Auckland that tho contract between tho American Government and the Oceanic Company contains a clause under which it is impossible to omit Auckland as a port of call, tho managing agent of the Oceanic Company asserts that the statement is entirely wrong. A clause exists, he states, which leaves the company free to discontinue calling at Now Zealand ports under certain conditions, and substituting Queensland, as suggested b.y Mr Ramsay, before the Queensland Chamber of Commerce.
