ISLAND TRADE.

THE GOVERNMENT SCHOONER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, last night. There was a very large attendance of prominent citizens, and tho [function was a great success. The Primate was present, and offered a prayer, and the boys from St. Stephen’s Maori school gave songs in Maori and English. The Governor, in a speech, said that an idea was prevalent that the vessel was built in opposition to the Union Company. That was a mistake, nor was she specially intended to run to Wellington. She might make an occasional trip thero, but the idea was to carry Island fruit to the mosji profitable market: He wished the vessel every success, and Captain Worsley God-speed.
