The following New Zealander h*s been awarded a Distinguished Conduct medal for bravery: Private Langhara, New Zealand Rough Riders, for gallantry at Waalbank.
The Daily Mail publishes further soldiers’ lettovs confirming the shooting of wounded at Vlakfontein. An official who visited the Boev refugees’ camps reports that everything is satisfactory. The following have been awarded distinguished conduct medals, their claims being based on eulogistic mention of their bravery : Sorgeant Davenport, First Australian Bushmen, twice severely wounded at Rhenoster Ivop; Corporal May, Sixth Australian Bushmen ; Privates Angell (sineo dead) and W. George, Western Australians, gallantry at Zeebcfg Pass. Thero are also mentioned in the dear tehes for conspicuous service: Liontenauts E. H. Thomas and R. D. Doyle, Sixth Imperial Bushmen, for the capture of Dolarcy's guns and convoy on March 24 ; Lieutenant Christian, New South Wales A Battery, for the admirable manner in which he handled his section, also described as a very good gunuor and horsemaster. Ths following are mentioned in despatches :—Now South Wales : Ser-geant-Major Weir, First Australian Bushmen, for dressing Sergeant Davenport’s wounds under fire at Rhenoster Ivop ; Private Selby, Sixth Imperial Bushmen, for gallantry at Gatsrand. Victorians : Sergeant Handiord, Lance ■ Corporal Legerwood, Trooper Browning, for rescuing a man pinned to the ground under a heavy fire ; Lance-Corporal Weiling, for attending the wounded under closo fire ; Corporal Walker, Staff-Sergeant McKenzie, Troopers Butler, Jameson, can, for special services at Woolmaranstad ; Sergeant Ward, South Australian, and Private Stockor, Tasmanian Bushmail, for getting, behind Schrocdor’s laager and tumbling tho British to surround it.
