Auckland University College.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. The ceremony of conferring the degrees of New Zealand University on the students of the Auckland University College took place to-day. There was a largo attendance, Sir Jas. Hector, Chancellor of the University, presiding. Sir James Hector said that there was a splendid opening at the Auckland College for a specialty in the way of higher navigation, higher surveying, and all advanced teaching that flows from mathematics and from physical science. This had not yet been thoroughly dealt with by the Now Zealand University, but it was most important that it should ho.
