Heat Wave.

There have been two hundred and eighty fatalities from the heat in tho States, of which eighty-seven occurred 1 in Greater Now York on Monday. The total within this area during the past five days is one hundred and thirty-six. Horse traffic has been largely abandoned. There are one hundred and fifty policemen on tho sick list.
GREAT LOSS OF LIFE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright New York, July 3. Tho insufferable heat in the United States East and Rocky Mountains continues unabated. The Government Weather Bureau considers it is likely to last a month. The total list of mortality reached a thousand and sixty in New York up to yesterday. The firemen hoso tho passing horses, but 250 havo died in tho streets of New Y’ork. Public cars have stopped running. The hospital resources are exhausted. Business is at a standstill. Factories are hosed and buildings almost abandoned. Millionaires appear in the streots eoatless, and laborers in gymnastic attire.
