Private J. Ewart, of the New Zealand Mounted, has been accidentally wounded at Paardeplaats. Lord Kitchener reports an additional 41 Boers killed, 27 wounded, 160 taken prisoners, and 70 surrendered ; 42,000 rounds of small-arm ammunition, 264 waggons, and a large number of horses and stock were captured. The surprise of the Midland Mounted Rifles at Waterkloof was carried out by Ivruitsinger at daybreak, just as the Midlands were starting the day’s march. The fight lasted 21- hours. Colonel Pilcher captured 500 horses and a quanity of grain at Western Grange.
