[By Telegraph—Press Association.] " Auckland, last night. At tho inquest on Mary O’Dowd, wife of the licensee of the Criterion Hotel, Dr Wilkins, subpoenaed by the Crown, said he prescribed for a young woman whom he believed to be deceased. He supplied her with medicine for stoppage of the menses, and never saw her again till after death. Dunedin, last nights Andrew Anderson, admitted to the Hospital a week ago with injuries sustained by falling through a bridge on the railway line at Purakanui, died last night. He leaves a widow and family. At the inquest on the body of John Rhodes, killed on the railway at the cattle yards, a verdict was returned of accidental death, no blame being attached to anyone. Tho men working on the line, of whom deceased was one, were sheltering from the wind on the lee side of a tank while waiting for a train. They crossed the line to the platform as the train was approaching. Two got over safely, but deceased was struck by the cowcatcher; he was caught by one of the relief cocks of the cylinder, and dragged along. Deceased was 34 years of age, married, with one child. Palmerston North, last night. - Jens Latsen, laborer, aged 52 years, diedsuddenly yesterday afternoon. An inquest was held to-day, when a verdict was returned that deceased died from sudden failure of the heart’s action. Deceased leaves a wife and ten children.
