TROUBLE IN THE SENATE. A STORM OF DISSENT.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, June 13.
In tho Senate Mr Drake moved to suspend the standing orders to tako the Supply Bill, in which the alterations made in tho House were not shown, through all the stages. The motion was met with a storm of dissent, and it was characterised as a deliberate attempt to belittlo tho Senate. Speakers wero unanimous that any attempt not to recognise tho Powers of tho Senate would not tolerated, and threats wore made to throw the Bill out. After an assuranco from Mr Drako that
there was no desire to ignoro the Senate in any way tho Bill was brought in again in a form to meet the views of the Senate, and tho discussion was adjourned until tomorrow.
