DEATH OLD SETTLER,

Christci.w _ . by.night. William Bryant, who arrived lh'Cantcrbury by one of the first four ships, died at Lyttelton this morning, aged 86.

The Canterbury War Fund Committee has decided to crccl a brass tablet in the Cathedral to the memory of those members of the Canterbury troop in tiie Third Contingent who have met their deaths in South Africa. This will absorb tho greater portion of the balance of the fund now in the hands of the committee.
