TEACHERS’ SALARIES.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, last night The Salaries Commission completed its work here this morning, and leave for Auckland this morning. Mr Valentine, Secretary to tho Teachers’ Institute, and two country teachers were examined. They approved of the colonial scale, but said the salaries were still inadequate in comparison with the pay in other employments. All complained of the method of reckoning, working being affected by weather, epidemics, and'country employments. Mr Barclay was re-called, and impressed upon the Commission the inadequacy of the proposed allowance to Boards for committees and other expenses. It should be 13s or 14s, instead of 11s 3d.
