Lord Roberts, tho Commandor-in-Chicf of tho British forces, conducted the official ceremony of opening the great Naval and Military Exhibition in the Crystal Palace. Ho liad left the building, and was about to re-enter tho carriage when tho horses bolted. A panic soized tho crowd of onlookers. Numbors of people were thrown down in tho struggle. Five people suffered injury.
Lord and Lady Roberts were not in jurod, but had a very narrow escape.
