DIFFICULTY IN GETTING FLAGS
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. The Department of Education has been ondcavoring for some time to obtain a supply of New Zealand ensigns for presentation to public schools, but the difficulty in getting good bunting and accurate make at a reasonable price has been such | that, although three tenders were acceptod over four months ago,'only 78 flags have as yet come to hand. It is the desire of the Government that, on the landing of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, and following the reception. of a telegraphic message, there shall be . a simultaneous hoistii°g of flags at as .many schools as possible. The Department will send to the Boards during the next fortnight flags for distribution to committees that do not already possess a national ensign. With each flag will be supplied a Union Jack, and its story.
